In 2005 a group of local women decided to start hiking together. Through our weekly hikes we made new friendships, found an abundance of support, exercised, and shared new challenges. We have had many “firsts” and “once was enough”, but always came away from each experience having grown personally and as a group.
In April of 2006 seven of our group decided to take our hiking international. The Wild Women walked, dined & wined (never whining) our way through Cinque Terre and Piedmont Italy. Needless to say we fell in love with the experiencing new places and new adventures together.
Two years later a smaller group went to Spain and Portugal. We hiked the Camino from Saria to Santiago in five days. Tired, sore feet, but still ready for some more adventures, we rented a car and headed down the Spain and Portugal coastline.
In May of 2012, Greece called five of us to Athens, Skopelos and Santorini for the “Mama Mia Tour”. We hiked the hills of Athens, scouted the beaches and mountains of Skopelos and walked the volcanic trails of Santorini.
In June of 2015, 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago beckoned two of us to the physical and mental challenge of finding oneself. Debby
Hoyt and I were turning 65 year old so we met that challenge by flying to France, taking a long train and bus ride to St. Jean to begin our hike on the French Way of the Camino de Santiago. The story of our journey started this blog. We spent 37 days on the trail. It calls to me again….
2019 Camino Frances with Eva
In 2019 my granddaughter, Eva, told me that she wanted to walk the Camino Frances with me. I had planned to walk it again when I turned 70 in 2020. Luckily, we decided that August 2019 was the right time, and off we went.
What a wonderful month and half of memories including two weeks of daughter time, when Heather joined us.
