Day 6 – Puente La Reina to Estella

Today was a 15 mile pilgrimage in the heat. In this area there is very little shade because of the direction of the trail. I use the word pilgrimage because I need to remind myself that the Camino has a purpose. We need to find the strength every day to survive what is in front of us and finish the last 2k (or the sign says!) Honestly there was no way that at the 2k sign I walked around Friends Landing; it was more like climbing Colonel Bob!

The trail has some very bad erosion which makes for constant attention to where you are putting your feet and having to weave from side to side.

Estella is one of my favorite towns. They were having a dance contest tonight so we got to be a part of the festivitieses.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. Phew! What a Day. When the visual showed you reaching the top and then starting downhill, I was so relieved as if I was actually doing the walking.
