T’was the Night Before….

The chaos of me packing and moving everything in the house is causing the kitties to have a little anxiety. This is their first “Camino” experience of me packing to leave.

Why is my bed being invaded?

I am packed and everything seems to fit into the new airline regulations for carry on. I am checked in for my flight from Seattle to Chicago to Madrid and then Porto. It will be a grueling travel day but I will be rewarded with a great Portuguese meal, a glass of port and a private room in an Albergue for my first night.

It is hard to say goodbye to everyone but I know that if I ever needed a long walk it is now. The sound of the surf on my right as I make my way up the Portugal coastline to Spain will sooth my soul and calm my mind. I will miss the morning songs of the woodland birds in the morning, but hey, a little change will enhance the pleasure of their songs when I walk in Galicia at the end of my journey.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
