Today we are well nourished and hydrated, rested and on our way to St. Jean Pied a Port. First we go by train to Bayonne and then by bus.
At the train station we were treated to an impromptu concert by some students who were also traveling and a small, tasty delicacy of Bordeaux (you know I cannot pass a bakery).
The bonus was that we were also at the correct station….
We have met some wonderful people already. In my tired state last night I forgot to mention the woman, who was walking home from shopping, whom we stopped on the street at 10:30 pm. We asked her directions to our hotel. She was not familiar with the name but gave us some ideas. As we were wandering about she drove up in her car and said you are almost there! So thoughtful…but we were all mistaken; it was the second wrong Ibis Hotel. Warning, not all Ibis hotels are created equally. Luckily ours was a third tier.
We had the most wonderful dinner at alberge Belleri which is Basque for Camino. The hospiterias are two wonderful, spiritual women who brought warmth and confidence to the start of my Camino. They fed our souls and our stomachs with an incredible dinner.
At our table were pilgrims from Spain, Denmark, Brazil, Germany, Ireland and Canada.

Candi, I just told Carolyn what I sent. She reacted strongly, at least as strongly as she ever does, and she said, you can have dessert everyday if you want. I agree. Dave

I would advise going light on desserts until after the hike. Just my thought. Rooting for you two. Dave
