headlamp hikingWe left earlier again today even though it wasn’t going to be in the 100’s today. Leaving town and looking for little yellow arrows is a real Easter egg hunt at times with a head lamp; even with two of us.
Interesting sunrise this morningWe have been through many “communities of perigrinos” because we are not following the normal stages. Recently we have been passing and being passed and then ending up in the same albergue with a few of the same people; two Irish young adults that I mentioned before that are traveling with a Canadian teacher and a guy from Italy, and a French gentleman that only speaks French. He is staying in our albergue again today and I finally introduced myself…it was a struggle since I don’t know much French (Pinot noir, Bon appetit) and he knows zero English or Spanish. After five minutes he knows my name is “Cindy” and I know his name is Joseph. It is always a bit sad when we lose contact with people we meet along the way.
The hike was uneventful today. We are getting stronger. My feet are settling in, if not my neck and shoulder. We walked out of the Rioja Region into the Leon Region today.

We are out of grapes and now into crop fields again. Lots of grain and sunflowers plus poppy fields today.
poppy fields with dried seed podsAt the end of our day we arrived at our albergue and the hospitalio said they had to close today because his wife is sick…mind you, this is a village with no store or cafe and the next albergue is 9 km ahead. My gut muscle was in a spasm and I could barely walk and I thought, ” what the heck?”. Well, the Camino always provides. We got into the other albergue in town and are having paella for dinner.
