Day 28 – Mansilla de las Mulas to Leon

A great day. We left early there was a cloud cover most of the day and hills!  I know I complained before, but it was heavenly climbing a couple of hills today. I even smiled!

                                                                     hills…

Since today was short I thought I would take a minute to talk about what is getting me around these days, my feet.

a little wiggle room at the end of a day
  1. Every morning the most important thing I do is get my feet ready for the day’s journey. I wrap my two last toes because they get hot spots, then I slather on a thick coat of Vaseline. I put it all over my feel.  I should have bought stock it the company, because I have bought so many tubes. I think I go through a tune every other. Then every 10 km we stop, change our socks and re-grease.  It is a process that seems to have worked for me. The only blister was from the day I got cocky and didn’t use a thick coating of Vaseline.
  2.                                                the sock change

We have had a nice overnight in Leon. The hotel has  a complimentary spa that I took advantage of!  I bought a suit for 7€ at the “Chinese Store” and steamed, dry sauna(ed), hot tubbed and showered my body into believing it was on vacation for a few hours.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
