We don’t usually get this much green space
All for 8€ per night-home sweet homeI don’t have a lot to report today because we had a relatively short day but ended in a nice little town. Tomorrow we will be in Leon. Large cities are a bit of a struggle after the long walks in the fields. Everything about your real life ; traffic, noise, commerce, slaps you right in the face. Once we get to the historic center it will be great.
Two Camino things happened today. First, I was walking by some young folks from our albergue this morning in barely daylight. They had stopped for a breakfast picnic. I said something about them having breakfast and that I was just stopping on the trail for mine. One of the young men offered me a croissant. Then later in the day when the sun was making my shadow disappear and the shade from the Camino shade trees also disappear, an elderly lady and her husband came walking beside the Camino in the fields. I couldn’t figure out where they had come from and why they were walking in the field instead of on the Camino or road. I spoke to her and she relied something back, then I walked on in the blazing sun. About 50 meters down the trail it dawned on me she was walking on an old access road IN THE SHADE! Two steps later we were on her path.
Her path on the left, my path on the right…Since today looked like yesterday most of the day, we left before daylight so that we wouldn’t see the monotony of the trail for about a half hour and then to see it in the colors of the sunrise. It really was a treat. Before I knew it we were into rolling hills again. A new region (Leon) and new adventure.
We have met a new pilgrim friend, Georgi, originally from Romania but works in Switzerland now. She is going to walk to Leon with us tomorrow. It is interesting the ebb and flow of people we get attached to. Then they stop or move on faster than we are going and we lose track of them.

Enjoying your “moments” and they’re inspiring….. I walked only 4 miles today, only 81 degrees. You have my admiration for persevering in such heat and distance!
