Day 38-  Barbadelo to Gonzar

We are in Galicia.  It is not just the beautiful countryside or the Celtic shapes but the smell of cows and dodging cow pies all day. The odor is not a complaint just an observation that assaults the nose in hot weather.

The dogs barked and scared this cow and I was almost gored.  And I am miles from Pamplona

Today we went to Sarria and the Pellegrini highway started. Oh my, I knew it was coming but not to this degree. Everyone smells so nice and is so clean.

                                            Those are all new pilgrims.

There were no quiet moments until after Portamare where everyone new to the Camino,  stayed. Now everyone is fighting for a bed. Several people had to sleep out on the ground last night. It is difficult when we have walked for 730 kms to have to fight for a bed.

My moment of bliss while resting

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. hope you made it and got your bed, although your view of the TREES looks pretty awesome!
