Day 17 – Burgos to Hornillo de Santiago

The mesetta….

The wonder of the these next few days!

My feet are feeling great and I am able to walk at my normal speed. Today was hot, low 90’s.

I need a slimmer looking shadow!

There are several ways to do the Camino. Biking across the mesetta is a go idea. You get to see it yet it takes a much shorter time. Personally I love the stark, monochromatic isolation of the mesetta. There is little to draw you out of the moment. So walking would be my choice.

Our albergue was one of my favorites. It is owner and operated by a brother and sister (quite young). It was very welcoming, small and had a nice garden and delightful dinner. We met many new Camino friends.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
