Day 20 – Frómista to Carrión de Los Condes

We left s bit late this am. The albergue was very quiet and I slept well.
The girls and I walked together for quite a while in the am.
A forest!

The girls lost me and I finished the walk alone. I had decided to stay in the church albergue to hear the singing nuns. Guess what? They were on vacation. At least we had a bed and not mats. It was a very nice albergue and the young volunteers were very helpful. One ran to carry my backpack upstairs for me to the dorm room.

The opening at the top of the wall is not a window. It is a prism that was designed to focus on the three alter statues during holy days. For example; on the holy day of Mary’s ascension into heaven the prism shines a direct beam of light onto Mary’s heart.

We were fortunate enough to hear about this afternoon concert. It was in a church that is being restored by the music school foundation that put on the concert. The school trains students in music and guitar building. Musicians from all over the world volunteer as teachers and performers. The foundation offers them room and board.

We will thrilled to hear this guitarists performance.

Willa’s aunt and uncle are visiting Spain and joined us in the village. They treated us to a wonderful meal.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. This absolutely enriches the soul! Your warrior strength I am in awe of. The moments of silence give such deep reflection about the wonderments of life.
