Day 21 – Carron de los Condes – Terradillos

Willa’s Aunt and uncle are walking this section of the Camino today with the girls. I am walking alone today. The mesetta is a time of silence for me, except for a buen Camino for passing pilgrims. I enjoy just letting my mind wander. Plus my feet are still tender and I tend to keep up a pace set my others and not my body which leads to painful evenings.

A long straight 17cm to the next village for the two of us.
A food truck ½ way through the 17 km. Nothing has tasted so good. Chorizo, peppers, onion and mustard. Oh my!

I finally arrived at our albergue. What a pleasant surprise to be staying in a familiar place from my previous Camino.

Willa’s family came here for dinner and games. It was a very nice evening. Unfortunately I was not on my A game for my team playing a mentally challenging game. I was a bit exhausted from a late night, long hot day and lots of introspection. I guess I am more of a get up and walk, eat, walk, eat, shower, do laundry, chat and go to bed kind of Camino walker.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
