Excitement growing.

I am finally settling in and the excitement is growing. Tomorrow we will be on the trail by 7:00 am to get a jump on the heat. This area is having a bit of a heatwave; in the low 80’s.

I scouted out the trailhead this am and then had my coffee and a delightful aple torte .

After walking through the town several times, it was time for a black and tan. Unfortunately, they ran out of pale ale so substituted their red ale. Of course, we made the best of a bad situation.

Everyone spent their time in different ways today. Priya did some early morning exploring, Vini and Debby were in pursuit of some last minute gear and we all bought some trail snacks. Debby and I had the luxury f a full day of catching up with each other and the evening ended in the most delightful dinner at Croi. Their expert attention to surprising combinations of herbs and spices intrigue me at each course.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. Where is the trailhead? I’d love to follow you on a map. I can’t believe it is that hot there!

  2. WOW! What a beautiful day of eating and spending overdue time with friends. Good work on the steak, Vini. Good luck walking tomorrow, ladies!
