Well, We Underestimated This Section.

Do you know that feeling when you are half way through something and you think , holy $@*#, what was I thinking? And there is no turning back? Well we were there today. In the end, I can proudly say, we Conquered the Mountain!

Our first trail marker for the Dingle Way/Kerry Camino. The trail starts in Tralee and heads out of town along the canal.

All was going well, we met a engaging guy who entertained us with political humor, a great deal of Irish wit and a few local facts. The Irish are a welcoming, lovely group of people.

Then after our half hour chat we were off on the trail again. It was all going so well. Debby asked a gentleman about coffee in the next village (we have our priorities). This is when we found out that we were on the wrong path. Oh well, what is an extra mile?

Where the mountain started. Such beautiful views, total exposure for hours and a rocky climb and descent. Oh! and 92 degree weather. But there was a breeze.

Hot and tired, me made it to our lovely bed and breakfast, Seaview; run by very hospitable and helpful. We had a delightful meal at a local restaurant and the owner gave us a ride home!

Local bangers and mash! Did I mention the Guiness? @Fitzsgerald’s Restaurant.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
