Day 4 – Tamel to Ponte De Lima

Last night in the municipal auberge was interesting and nice. We met a lot of people. The Albergue was not full so we all got lower bunks. Today we have walked with many of the people that we met last night. Today was feeling more like the Camino .

Along this part of the Portuguese Camino there is such a show of support for pilgrims. Lots of Bon Camino’s., honks and ways, places to sit, words of encouragement.

We had the most wonderful pilgrim meal on the trail today. We just happened upon the wonderful restaurant. It was an olive press mill that had been restored. My lunch was 5€ and it was the best pilgrims meal I have ever had on any Camino.

After lots of climbing and descents today we made it to Ponte De Lima. It is a charming town with a great brew pub.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. So many interesting things along the way and you manage to show us the beauty despite the rain! 💕 Oh, and I think I could smell the fertilizer from your vivid description and facial expressions 😂. Sorry you weren’t there to experience with your mom Heather!

  2. I can’t believe that after walking those distances that you still have enough energy to share your experiences! It looks wonderful and Portugal seems interesting and somewhat mysterious to me.

  3. It looks like such a wonderful adventure! Makes me miss the walking. Hey Heather, you ready to go again?
Safe passage to you three and wonderful food and drink along the way. I will always be great full for my 2019 walk with the family.
