Hike #1. New Years Day. We all donned our rain gear and headed for our City Forest. I am so fortunate to live one mile from a State Park and City Forest with 5,400 acres of land with 52 miles of trails. My husband and son have helped build a great many of those trails Each time that I hike here I always take a moment to give my appreciation to the hard working volunteers who established this trail system.
This first hike of 2023 was a celebration for me. It was my first time to serious test my newly healed pelvis. I was tentative and had to remind myself that sometimes holding back can cause a more serious fall than hiking with confidence. I soon relaxed but had a little bird, my friend Karen, chirping in my ear to watch my steps😘. She knows too well that I can get distracted.
