I had a very good sleep. I fell asleep early, not by our time zone, and got up on early, 3:30 am London time. Spent the am going to another terminal, eating a traditional British breakfast,

and then waiting for a long time for our gate to be open.
travel was really enjoyable, even though it was long and had some waiting time. When I got to Biarritz, France our car transfer was late but that gave me some time to visit with Al and Barb Snyder, who also flew in from Paris, almost at the same time.

The excitement built as we sped across the French countryside. I have to admit that when we came into St. Jean Pied au Port I got a few butterflies.

I can’t even imagine how many people are starting the Camino tomorrow. The streets are full of pilgrims. You can just feel the excitement in the air. We’ve met several new people. Unfortunately, all of them are going to be going over the mountain and I’m going to be stopping at, the end of the first big climb at Orisson.

Al, Barb and I went out to lunch,

toasted to the prospects of a buen Camino and then went to our rooms to deal with pack reorganizing.

This is my room at Plan B.
The Camino is teaching me the lesson of patience, already. I won’t go into all the details of my drama today, but I had some self-talk. By the evening I had a solution, not perfect but fine.
I ended the evening having a Pilgrim meal with Liz and Martin, a couple I meet at the airport. They are from the UK, and on their first Camino. We had a very enjoyable evening.
