Roncevillas to Zubiri

Today was a day of extreme physical and mental agility. There was much climbing up to reach a couple of mountain peaks and some treacherous downhill that required all the concentration and physical awareness that I had in me after two other days of exhausting my body.

I switched between solo hiking and walking with a new friend from the Netherlands,

Coffee and first breakfast turned into coffee and an amazing second breakfast. My used to be favorite coffee cafe was closed so went to the next village and found this!

Tortilla con chorizo and fresh orange juice

The rest of the day was climbing and decent. In the woods Yolanda found me and we finished the day together.

Finally Zubiri

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
