I couldn’t quit saying how much I loved this morning’s hike. I know that I even tested Nancy’s patience. I loved the climbing, I loved the pastures, I loved the heather, I loved the smell of the pine trees…..

We got into the top and reached Cruz de Fiero. We didn’t make it by sunrise but as always, it’s very touching to see the photos messages left there by other pilgrims.
After we left we joyfully walked on down the trail until we fell into the pit of hell for 8 miles of downhill on shale, large rocks, loose gravel and any other thing you can imagine that could make a extreme downhill more dangerous.

I had remembered this downhill, but thought it ended in Acebo, where we celebrated the end of hell, met up with Barb and Al for the second time today before we set out for five more miles of…………hell downhill, but now on tired legs and feet. I had even changed into my teva sandals.

I used the F word many times in my head, thought to myself “it is time to go home”, and questioned whether falling of the side of the mountain was a better option that continuing going downhill.
But we made it to our beds, had dinner, listened to other pilgrims talk about how difficult (understatement) today was, an fell into a deep sleep.
Re-enforcements are coming…. They are in the air!!! This last part of your hike will be with family. I can’t wait to hear the rest of your posts….. we have really enjoyed reading about your adventures and admire your fortitude…….
