Day 29 – Vega De Valarce to Linares

The 3 Amigas

Today we set out to conquer the mountain with headlamps to beat the heat. Luckily today was much cooler; perfect mountain climbing weather.

Nancy was a little mountain goat today, so we did not see her until the end of the day.

We went from 2000 feet elevation and climbed to 4400 feet in 8 miles. The average incline is 10% with some claims up to 16%. It was quite a first day for Vini.

We reached the charming, cloud covered village of O Cebriero. It is a bit of a touristy feel but that doesn’t take away the beauty of the village.

Then down we went to our not so charming village where we stay tonight. This is Vini’s first communal living in the Camino.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
