My day I started with a wonderful coffee and a fantastic croissant filled with cream. I had once thought the croissant I had in France was the best croissant experience of my lifetime, but I have to say this was better or at least as good.

We walked to the train station to welcome Maria’s train. Maria is my Danish “daughter”. Every time I am in Europe she finds time to meet me. She came to spend the day with me this visit, and to celebrate my birthday with lunch. I’m lucky to have her and her family in my life. She is one of my life’s treasures.

Marie had made reservations at a beautiful restaurant over by the river Tiber. We shared a few antipasto plates and two lovely pastas; one was made with burnt grain, which had a fantastic flavor profile and texture.

The rest of the day Brenda guided us past the many highlights of Rome and a bakery on the other side of the river.

Then it was time to say goodbye again, but only until July when Josh and I will be visiting her in Spain at her property. After saying goodbye to Maria, we came back to our hotel and crashed for the night after putting in many miles of cobblestones.

Most Excellent Candi! So glad Maria was ab
