Denmark – Day 4-5

Day 4

Today was an incredible day! I was part of a blended family gathering to celebrate a parent’s annual tradition. It was a truly special moment to be a part of it. The day was a celebration of the late spring bloom of years of collection and planting rhododendrons—a total of 1500 to 2000 plants!

Day 5

Today Maria and I went to Copenhagen sans rain coats. We were dripping, literally, by the end of the day but had a wonderful time. We traveled by bus, foot and water bus. It was a great adventure.

Sankt Peders Bageri established in 1652!

This bakery has been on my bucket list for many years. I have a cookbook about this bakery that I bought 30 years ago. I have made some of their Danish pastries and dreamed about going to their store front. Today was the day and my pastry, a cardamom danish was outstanding!

The Parliament Building

The Opera House & Palace

Then home to get ready for my early morning flight to begin my Camino.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
