Camino Travel Day

It was an early rise today, 3:00 am to catch my plane from Copenhagen to Paris to Biarritz when a shuttle to St Jean Pied a Port, the start of the Camino Frances.

Boots on for the first time of this Camino.

Hummmm. Sitting on the ground in Paris. No one can come out to open our door after landing. It is an electrical problem. I have a short layover and have to change terminals so hopeful that I will make it. If not it will be a real problem since I am flying into a very small airport….travel is never predictable!

Update: Made it with 10 minutes to spare. Had to do a little running with my full bag and boots on; guess it was good training to tomorrow. # 1 adventure behind me.

Arrived to rain….

I have a had a bit of time to explore and buy my hiking poles and a knife for cutting cheese and bread on the trail. I also found a great place for a bit of lunch and then a perfect spot for after lunch tart and wine.

Life continues to be good….

I have met a few people already, a mother and daughter from Seattle and two friends from the Netherlands who did a section of the Frances. They are going home tomorrow. One of them has the Camino bug and is already planning to return.

I will finish the blog tonight with our communal dinner. I hope that I can stay up until 7:30. My 3 am wake up and jog through Charles de Gaul Airport is catching up with me.

The evening was filled with food, wine, love and sharing with some amazing people and our host at BEILARI. We start our Camino with new friends from Australia, Brazil, The Netherlands, Spain, USA, and France.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
