Day 7- Uterga to Cirauqui

Started early and moved into a new agricultural area.  Still grain fields but also grapes, olives, and wild fennel…It is delightful.

The weather is still in the100’s so we are making short days.  We have moved into going into many small villages throughout the day but that means lots of climbing and descending.

After 2 k. of climbing, this still faced us

high five for two kick butt 65 year olds!

As we are hiking there are small things that we take for granted in the real world.  When the breeze came to our backs,  I was so grateful.  I think of how many times I don’t take the moments to appreciate this little comforts that come along. We have been blessed by many people each day.

This it a picture that came to view of the village we are staying in tonight.

Cirauqui

When we came to town and was waiting for the alberge to open,  local young boys practiced their English on us.  It was a lot of fun.  Debby gave them each a postcard of Seattle.

Laundry done

It is almost time for the “taborna” to open and I am going to have local wine…excited🍷

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. Thanks for letting us have a glimpse of your journey. Love your pictures and the descriptions of your days. 🙂

  2. Living vicariously through your trip is great! And my muscles aren’t hurting….😊 so enjoying your pix, views and words….xo

  3. Candi – tell Debby that Butch and I bought a book that has been edited over the years by previous pilgrims. We are following your journey and reading about the villages and history as you enter and leave each one. It is nice to learn more from this side of the pond. Hugs to you both. Keep on keeping on.

  4. It would really sound silly if I told you that reading your blog has become part of my routine each morning and along with it comes my inspiration for the day.
