Day 6- Pamplona to Uterga

I was so glad to say goodbye to the city. So, of course we “climbed” our whole morning out of the city. And we did it with no coffee or breakfast because we were sure the villages would have a cafe open….not!

Finally at almost the top of the mountain, we came across Zariquiegui, a sleepy little village with an outstanding cafe. Mama’s omelette tortilla was so good!
Thank goodness for the wonderful food because to summit Alto del Perdon was a workout…(ok, I promise to eventually quit complaining about climbing).  It was amazing to see the statues in person after seeing so many pictures.  it was wonderful.

what comes up, must go down.

I just got into downhill sking mentality and went for it.  I actually really enjoyed the long,  rocky downhill.
We went to the next village and treated ourselves to a private room…real sheets, our own bathroom, and real towels….

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. Josh and I are thinking of you. Can’t wait to hear all your stories in person. Love you

  2. You look wonderful Candi, love the “cleaned up” picture. I am very impressed with the stamina you both have!! I am very proud of you both, and thinking about you a lot. Kicking ass and taking names. The universe is guiding you through all of this. Was meant to be. Hugs to you both…

  3. Glad you sprung for a real room. Did it have a tub? I would be dying in that heat. We are in the middle of a heat spell here for Puget Sound, about 90. Scenery in you photos is spectacular. Hugs
