Day 12 Longrono to Viana

leaving at 5:30 am

The walk today was pleasant and beautiful. I think we are ending our time in Navarre and move to Rioja. I have really enjoyed the wines here and will be interested to see the slight differences.

Los Argos in sight

Debby bussed here and we met up at a small cafe, by chance. We went through a series of three albergues. The first one was way out of the center, the second one was a little too basic for no sleep because of the heat .

The volunteers were the most welcoming yet. There were just too many steps also.

But we got into an albergue with a private room and got a great night’s sleep😍.

Some thoughts

1. Unbelievable how much time it takes to organize your life in a backpack.

2. Life can be a lot simpler than I make it.

3. I love the solitude of the morning walks at dawn.

4. I wish we gathered in the downtown center in the evenings. That feeling of community is so comforting.

5.  I miss my family.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
