Day 20- Burgos to Hornillos de Camino

another beautiful sunrise

So the meseta began. It took 4 km to get out of Burgos.  It is difficult watching for yellow arrows or shells with headlamps. We missed a turn at 5:30 am and a woman walking to work, stopped us and walked us back to the Camino.

We did some climbing today and there was only three places with shade the entire day.

shade, scarce…

I actually I didn’t mind the heat but my back and ankle were a thorn in my side.  Then the bugs started biting me…

But the fields were beautiful.

And the Camino left me a sweet reminder of home…

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. Can’t imagine the heat and hiking. 90s to 107 here the last few weeks and it doesn’t put me in a hiking mood…..😊 Spectacular scenery and loving your pics…..thanks for taking the time to share…..
