The Excitement is Building

Four years ago I would not have considered that this note, left by another pilgrim, would have been a sign that my Eva and I would be walking on this very trail, together, in August of 2019. I came upon this simple note which immediately brought me great joy, appreciation and love. I felt lighter and the burden of a long, hot day lessened.

I am getting excited! We are closing in on three months until we leave for the Camino. I am making lists, I have made our reservation for our rest day in Biarritz, France.

Then we will take a shuttle to St. Jean Pied au Port for one night, before we start up the Pyrenees.

I am waiting for my new 38L pack to arrive; a very thoughtful gift from my grandson, Dillon. This time I will begin the Camino, much lighter in “stuff”; if not much lighter in body weight 😂. Every once in awhile I collect one or two little items and put them in my “to take” basket that I am sure I will overfill and have to refine before packing. Right now I am having fun anticipating the journey….

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. So excited to follow your journey! Alan and I can’t stop talking about doing it again. We will have to live vicariously through you for now,…I sure miss it, and think of it everyday.
