Getting closer….

I have started training. My last Camino I decided to quit training the last two months before I left because, I guess, I wanted to really suffer the first week going over the Pyrenees.😉 This time the pressure is on because I am too competitive to be the weak link, hiking with two 20 year olds.

These are two of my recent hikes; Kennedy Falls and Cooper Creek. Luckily I have my Wild Women friends to keep me motivated. They are great hiking partners.

I spoke with Eva over the weekend and she said that she is thinking a lot about the Camino and getting excited for our adventure to begin. Her sophomore year at the University of Washington is coming to a close. She is studying for finals, decided her double major and is now ready for 35+ days of just “being”.

I finished my supply and equipment list this Sunday, thanks to my grandson’s (Dillon) generous birthday gift to me. He said he would rather be buying me things for the Camino than walking it😎. He patiently followed me around REI and help me pick out all the essentials.

So it all feels real. Four years has made a bit of difference in how my body feels (it may be the 12 hour days at the cafe, too). I am excited to challenge my 69 year old body and mind to the 500 mile walk.

Buen Camino❤️

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. So excited for you! I’m really looking forward to your pictures and posts along the way!

  2. i guess after your last couple trips and your wisdom you will not do anything too ‘crazy’ (trying to keep up with 20 somethings)…. you ‘got this’. you’ll do/be fine as long as you ‘let it happen’. I look forward to helping you train!

  3. If there is anyone that can do this, IT IS YOU. I have compete faith that you can and will do this. You will be teaching the 20 year olds; and you are the one that knows “THE WAY” and are experienced, knowable and able to guide these young women. Without you they will burn out walking too fast and possibly over stressing their feet. You know it is not a race, but a mission to be “ONE” with the Camino and the universe. Trust your instincts, and do it the way you did it before one step at a time. YOU’VE GOT THIS!!!!

  4. Best of luck. I so admire you. Looking forward to your photos and exciting stories.
