Day 3 Roncesvalles to Zubiri

After two days of climbing the Pyrenees we look so optimistic about today…..it is a beautiful walk out of Roncesvalles. Flat, tree lined; right into charming villages

My first, of many, pictures of my shadow. This one includes our tribe at this time.

This is a great spot to stop for espresso and patata tortilla. Cecillia and Eva are having a Camino photo shoot moment.

The many times of day blister care regime. Mine looks a bit different since I cannot get my legs to bend that much.

The true look at the day begins. We climb again. Another hot day. They hike that

Very difficult terrain with a bruised ankle bone😢. Of course this is at the end of a long day.
Our tribe. Mack in the far right back is from Ireland. This is his fourth Camino (entire) since March!!!

My reward for a very hot 🥵 (in the 90’s) very long, day. Papatas bravas! I have been waiting for 4 years for these and a tortilla.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. Your pictures and narrative bring joy to my heart. You my dear friend are so very amazing as well as your granddaughter and her friend. You are certainly a warrior woman of adventure, and you embrace everyone you encounter with such heart. Looking forward to more pictures and stories, you bring all of us with you through these words and capturing all that surrounds you.
