Day 9 Los Argos to Viana

Because of the heat and distance we decided to start early today. It was a beautiful sunrise. I love the quiet and solitude of starting before dawn.

We are out without coffee or food. I am walking slowly because of my feet. Willa and Eva are ahead somewhere in the far distance.

This day was full of climbs and descents. I have no memory of this area from four years ago. It is very strange.

I am staying in Vianna tonight. My feet are very bad. I bought new Teva hiking sandals and will leave my boots here (again). I wish I would have sent my original boots ahead so once my ankle bone healed I would have them. I was only thinking one thing, not carrying the extra weight.

Eva and Willa are on their way to Logrono so I will stay here alone. One of our “Camino Family” is staying here tonight so we will have dinner together.

New shoes.

I got the courage to take off foot bandages. It isn’t a pretty sight. No wonder ever strep feels like I am walking on sharp pebbles. Yikes!

Tomorrow I will walk but much slower and more carefully.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. You are a courageous woman dear Candice. Is it possible to ice? If available, Arnica Montana homeopathic remedy would help as well? Swift healing.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear of your struggles. Take time and heal. My thoughts are with you….
