Day 12 – Logrono to Ventosa

Leaving a large city is always a long walk on sidewalks. I broke up the am with art and watching Spaniards on the morning walks, bike rides and runs. and a delightful bakery I could smell two blocks away. The mini croissants were cream filled and delightful! There was a hint of possible citrus in the filling. I couldn’t really define what it was.

This gentleman behind me is about 90 and all I hear is the quick clicking of his poles as he gains on me. He is pushing me into a pace I cannot maintain!🤨

Each day has some points of interest although the terrain is similar.

This area is know for its wine and pottery.

I love the Rioja Camino Shell.

Today Eva and I walked together from a town about 10 km from Logrono. She and Willa had walked there yesterday while waiting for me.

It was a great day together. I know she is concerned about my feet. I hate that this has to be on her mind.

We ended up in a small village where Debby and I stayed. Willa joined us here. The small village is growing due to a large winery just a few hundred feet from their entrance. I revisited a cafe and the owner is the same guy as four years ago. Today Eva and I walked together from a town about 10 km from Logrono. 2019 and 2015. He showed everyone in the cafe the picture from 2015

I plan on walking tomorrow. We are leaving early to get ahead of the heat. Today was 89F.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
