There was no Mount Brandon crossing for us today so we did the lower (?) around the base, through the saddle trail instead.

We had a delightful breakfast, with our innkeeper sharing her some delicious rhubarb sauce and a wonderful warm rice pudding with lingonberry sauce and banana bread a long with the traditional Irish breakfast.
Interestingly, the hike that I thought that I might find unchallenging and just “putting in miles”, was quite a challenge, beautiful and invigorating. 2 ½ miles straight up.
On our climb we met a mother (Molly) and son (Wyatt) from Colorado. We all joined forces to gather enough “steam” to talk ourselves over the hill.
At the top we were met with gusting winds that tried to push us sideways off the mountain; but thank goodness for

As we crested the top this beautiful pastorial scene took our breaths away; well actually the hike up had already done that.

We finished with as lively conversation with Micheál O’Dell the owner of O’Conner. He shared so many interesting stories with us about his life and the area around here. The dinner amazing. Fresh, beautifully seasoned and prepared. delightful.

Keep the stories coming! They inspire me to go out and do things instead of lounging around!
Good work, women! Keep it up 💪🏻
