Here we are on day three. I find myself longing to get started on the Camino as I watch other pilgrims leave through. our window. It’s exciting to see the joy of the new Peligrinos as they start their journey from the cathedral. We still have one more day of sightseeing.
Today we had to do some shopping after breakfast for some hiking poles and I bought a smaller backpack so that I can go down in the amount of weight I will carry to protect my Achilles’ tendon. We also needed to check in with the Pilgrim Office and get credentials stamped.

Laura and Ian spent the day exploring the south side of the river which is where the Port Houses are.
They walked over the three tier bridge; the top level of course!
This a foot and train only bridge. In America there would be a ten foot high fence around the tracks but here they trust in peoples’ common sense to get out of the way when the train is coming. No flashing lights, no sirens, horns nor whistles; just common sense.
And then after all that walking, high altitude and use of their common senses, they had to sit down for a port tasting to calm and refresh themselves.

They wandered back when the rains started so we took shelter in the tiny cafe under our window.

Porto is a lovely city with beautiful architecture, wonderful people and great food. We’re enjoying our stay here.
