Day 9 Redondela to Pontevedra – 12 miles

Note to self, rest when your body needs it. My foot felt better from coming in and staying off of it for the rest of the day. I walked much easier today. I rested when I needed to, drank more water, and enjoyed the day.

My kind of people; bread delivery (pan) has it’s own delivery box at the house.

Galacia is a region of hills. I climbed, descended, climbed, and descended until the final 4 miles.

I met a young woman from Ukraine at the top of one climb. She was fixing some bad blisters and I was changing socks. We had a long conversation about her homeland. She had been in Poland working so was safe but it took a long time to convince her mother and sister to join her for safety with her nieces.

The last 3 miles was the most beautiful and easiest hike I have ever had into a city.

Off to late lunch before the restaurants close until 9 pm.

Some nights I have a great deal of trouble sleeping. Last might I made up for my previous sleepless night.

12 miles of walking then 12 hours of sleep.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
