Day 11 – Caldes De Reis to Vilar (16 miles)

The final days have arrived. I feel as though I am just now ready to experience the Camino and it is over. Tomorrow we walk into Santiago.

This started the hill climbing and walk in the woods today.

Today was a beautiful woods walk for 80 percent of the day. I enjoyed so much solitude today. The downhills were a bit steep. One needed to keep their mind on business.

Comino friends. Richard, right, and Rob next to me, have been with us for most of the Camino and Hugo, from Brazil.

Finally, after too much in town and highway walking, I entered a small village. Even with a head wind I made it to a very charming albergue.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
