Not to worry, it is the name of the village.
Todays hike was shorter, still some climbing but not nearly as hot or difficult. There was a lot of forest walking and many villages for beer stops. Plus we are getting in better shape. The terrain is almost always the same, one climb after another with lists of corn fields, pine and eucalyptus forests (which Karen,of course, loves. I love the forest, too. The shade it provides and the birds singing is through the day makes our Camino oh so much better.
We have had a lot of road walking. Besides risking your life daily, the heat has been unbearable with very little shade. I was not anticipation these temperatures in the mid to high 80’s.
Today I was minding my own business, again and ….. as I was enjoying my soft Santiago Cake my filling from a tooth fell out. AND IT IS IN A FRONT TOOTH! Just lovely. I told my kids that I don’t think that I have enough teeth to walk many more Camino’s and Josh said, “I think I’d keep doing it until I couldn’t eat, drink or walk!” My last Camino I lost a filling eating bread and had to have an implant! These inexpensive trips get more expensive when I get home.
We loved our albergue and the owner. What a hard working woman; albergue, restaurant, shuttle driver, and grandma with her sweet guy at the restaurant all day.
What wonderful pictures! I am so sorry about your tooth, but glad you are having a great time. I thought for sure you would have some cooler weather, but way to hang in there with the heat. Can’t wait to see you get to the “end of the world”!
