Day 12 Santo Domingo to Belorado

Today was a wonderful day. It did rain which most people were sad about, but being from the Pacific Northwest, I actually looked forward to it.

Today we walked with Heidi from Switzerland. She is a fun, energetic woman that definitely sets a positive mood for the day.

It is interesting reading about the rolling hills of this area before you hike through here. It sounds benign but the continuous climb and descent all day is a work out, yet becomes almost routine, and without dread or even much thought.

There is always something new to give your senses something to contemplate. I cannot figure out the aroma of curry that comes from some plants that grow near the trail. When I think that I have figured out whichnplant it is I grab the leave and seed pods only to find not a hint of curry!

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
