The hill climb went on for about 3/4 of a mile. It was steeper than I thought it would be and I almost fell off the side of the mountain trying to adjust the bill on my rain poncho! Note to self: figure your gear out before you are in harsh weather on a mountain side.

Villages are few and far between in the meseta. Finding a cafe to change my socks, take off my backpack and get food was wonderful. My waterproof boots are NOT! I had two inches of water inside. I am now down to one sock change no way that my socks are going to get dry hanging on the back of my backpack inside my rain cover. I’ve never had to deal with this before.
There was definitely a ying and yang to this day The first 3/4 of the day was about survival. The rain the wind the Rocky path was taking a toll on me. But with 5 km to go, the sun came out my spirit lifted, and I finished the day with a high five to myself.

Finally the sun. But not before my last pair of socks were soaking wet. I decided not to stop because there was so much water in my boots that my feet were in a foot bath with no friction building up, so I sloshed on.

You might be getting some of the big storm that forced our ship to reroute. We are here in France with two days of heavy rain.
