Day 1 and 2 in Italy

Brenda had the food scene all scoped out by the time I arrived in Rome. I think I had traveled 22 hours by the time we made it to our hotel and into bed!

Finally arriving in Rome…Seattle to Heathrow, Heathrow to Rome Airport and then train to center.

First stop Il Mercoto Centrale , right at the Rome train station. Imagine not being really hungry and and having a was

We had a nice “hotel” room in the center. with the tiniest elevator I have ever seen. Needless to say most of the time we walked up the stairs.

Making pasta for the dinner service at this small cafe. Ignore the video photographer’s reflection in the window, but notice her admiration for the talented cook and envy of the pasta pin!

Then off by train to Sorrento. Patience was the key today with the train system. But two trains and a layover, four hours of travel and we reached the coast. Sorrento is a large city and very cute and touristy.

We met some new friends from LA, California, at the next table. They love good food as much as we do. They were enjoyable dinner partners. They are a young couple traveling the world to 22 countries in 2 months!

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
