Our little “hotel”; one floor of a city building, is very charming. At the breakfast this morning we met an interesting couple from New Zealand. They are on a whirl wind European trip to several countries.

Today we are going to board a bus, ferry and then another bus, to explore Almafi, Positano, and Ravello. it will be a big day. We might be biting off a lot with so many hillside towns to see.
It is impossible to explain the bus ride on the curving roads of the Amalfi coast. Vespas are passing us on the corners with oncoming traffic. They somehow maneuvered between the bus and the oncoming SUV. My heart was in my throat. This drive is not an experience for anyone who suffers from car sickness. Between horn honking on every curve, which I don’t think anyone can hear except the passengers on the bus, the jostling of the bus whipping around each turn, or screeching to a stop because you are meeting someone head-on at a hairpin blind corner, I was ready to be medicated with wine or drugs by the end of the day.
Somehow we made it safely to Positano. This small village was definitely for beach living tourists with a thousand of steps to get from the bus station to the beach.

We just had time to get down all the stairs to the beach, grab an espresso and go into a few tourist shops and it was time to start the next leg of our day by boat to Amalfi.

Almafi is a small village bursting with tourists like us. We had a great pizza and a glass of wine, then back to a bus after a short walk through a few charming streets.

Ravello was my favorite village. It was peaceful, charming, and seemed less touristy. I must admit that just being off of the bus and the windy roads would be a plus or any village at that point. But this village is known for its music, art and gardens. It truly was an oasis.

refreshing.
It was time to return to Sorrento, and the return trip was worse than earlier. The busses were crowded, lines were long with people anxious to get a seat and busy curving roads. I did meet a nice young guy from the Netherlands and his family. We had a great visit and he is about to come to the US, rent a motorcycle and ride Route 66. He will then come to Seattle to meet up with a guy he met travel in the Philippines 11 years ago.
I was so glad to arrive in Sorrento. We had a nice pasta dinner, some great gelato and fell into bed.

Don’t know how you did all that in one day! Amazing.
