Can It Already be June?

Josh and I are seriously on the count down now. In 15 days we will be boarding the plane for Dublin. This will be our first day adventure in Europe. I am looking forward to spending an evening in pubs with live music, sharing a pint with my “favorite” child (according to his sister😂) No judging me. It is not true…as all mothers know, you take turns having “favorite” children.

It would not be a Bachtell trip if where we are going to eat wasn’t front and center in our planning. 🥰 Josh is already looking for the best places to eat at all our locations.

The last time I was in Dublin was on our WWW Dingle Way hike; the COVID shutdown lifted the day we arrived. Naturally many Covid restrictions were still in place, including no music in the pubs. I certainly understood, but we were so sad.

We will have to remember not to have too many pints because we fly out early the next morning to Madrid with a short layover, then another flight to Ovieto, where our Primativo begins. It will be a long travel day, but with a night of rest and a wonderful Asturian meal, we will awake ready to get a coffee and pastry and head into the mountains of the Camino.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  3. I hope you have Kinsale on your agenda and the Fishy Fishy Cafe. We spent two weeks in Kinsale and loved it! The people were terrific, especially when they know you’ll be there more than overnight. Loved the Spaniard Pub, too. Such wonderful memories…
