I call today “highway to hell…when you have a knee injury anyway. I tried all measures to overcome the now up and downhill pain….singing my irritating “Oscar Meyer Weiner” theme song in my head; Josh had enough to deal with. I tried cursing and then laughing. I wanted to cry, but again, Josh had enough to deal with.
But we made it and found lots of “the best times” in our 7 hours on a 10 mile trek!😳

We went to sleep without an app to simulate the sound of a river, but instead fell asleep to the relaxing sounds of a real river just outside your bedroom. Then our alarm clock was the sounds of cow bells in their rhythmic grazing. At first I couldn’t believe that it was real.
Off we went in search of a village with a bar (coffee bar) of course.

It was a real rain today. We didn’t mind it though.

The last of the downhill turned treacherous. Primarily, when one leg cannot flex the foot, the other leg has to do a great deal more work. Josh held me by the backpack to lighten the impact on my bad knee and to stabilize me. The switchback proved to be worth a few curse words when I turned the corner and there was still more of this nonsense.

I wanted to call for a helicopter. But guess what? WE MADE IT!!!!!

I want to believe I could have finished today if alone; but it was so nice to be on a team!❤️🥰
The Albergue is very nice. We had an eight person bunk room to ourselves. We had two bottom bunks, two bathrooms with HOT shower and plugs by each bed. A pilgrim cannot ask for more, except for no bedbugs; which there were none! The manager was so helpful in making arrangements and making sure everyone was happy.

looks like a tough but fun trip so far! Love you both!
