What started out as a quiet stroll through Galacia…

We climbed and descended our way over the hills of the region. The climbs are definitely not the straight up the mountain of previous days, but more gradual climbs and descents; but still challenging with all of the pavement walking. Mostly it was a quiet day of 10 miles of no cafes, so no morning coffee and croissant again. I got a little disappointed!!!
So at 12+ miles we started our walk into Melide. As we neared the center I broke my cardinal rule of when walking on sidewalks and pulled out my phone to get directions to our Albergue.
The sidewalk went from smooth to areas for water runoff and I face planted. Cut knee (my good one), face and mouth with road rash, plus bruised ego, but still able to hobble into the center. Life!
The worst part was scaring Josh.
In the larger cities everyone is spread out and now the Camino Frances and the Camino Primativo meet to all walk into Santiago. The streets are filled with pilgrims. Our quiet walks are over and now it is the march of the pilgrims to finish their journeys of 200 miles, 500 miles or 85 miles.
Buen Camino.
So as the saying goes “Don’t txt and drive.” Guess that goes for walking also, “Don’t look at you phone while walking.”
