Travel Day – as always patience is needed.

With travel there is always a first….

We had an early rise and were out of Montesano by 6:10 AM

Arrived at the airport at 8:10 AM- heavy traffic but no real issues.

TSA was a breeze. Maybe it took 15 minutes. I was happy to see that one agent was asking if people wanted facial ID or not. My guy was cranky and didn’t ask but I was not going to decline anyway because I have had it twice before.

Boarded on time but sitting at the gate because a neighboring plane was docked incorrectly. 10:35 AM. Finally took off at 11:34, just a bit behind schedule.

Montesano to Seattle -2 hours

Arrival for International- 3 hours

Seattle to Chicago – 3 1/2 hours

Chicago layover – 4 ½ hours

Chicago to Madrid -8 hours Madrid layover – 1 ½ hour

Missed flight – had to buy a new ticket and another 3 hour wait

Madrid to Porto – 1 ½ hours Porto

Airport to Albergue – ½ hour

Basically 27 hours of travel

I am done with airports right now but still have a few hours left….I have walked five miles mostly in the Madrid airport. It is a good thing I am young🤣🤣🤣🤣!

I was going to finish this blog post in Porto but think I will sign off for the night, morning, or afternoon?

Hasta Luego from Madrid.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. Woohoo! Have you walked the Portuguese way before? I’m hoping to walk out with my daughter in the next couple of years.
