Day 10 & 11 – Vigo to Rondondela & Rondondela to Pontevedra

Well, 10 miles was optimistic!

The lyrics of one song kept going through my head today, “what goes up must come down”🎵

Day 10th profile

I have not been very good about reading much information about what the upcoming day is going to look like. So today was a surprise as far as elevation and number of climbs.

So quiet solo hikes in the forests are for other times.

Fun moments…

The three Portuguése Caminos are making their way together. In Vigo the Literal and the Coastal converge toward Rondondela and then at Pontevedra all three form the last walk toward Santiago. Also, from Vigo to Santiago is the 100 k mark to Santiago, so there are many new people on their quest for their Companstello. Also there are lots of tour busses with short day Camino walkers

Meeting lots of new friends…

Day 11

A bit down hearted when I saw I still had another climb

Food today…

A good, hard day of rain, climbing and crowds, with dome pilgrims playing music without headphones😵‍💫. Ending with laundry laughs, a great albergue, being reunited with my bag that I had transported after two days missing, a great room mate (Emily) and wonderful dinner.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.
