24th sunrise…on the way to the long walk
For some reason I have been drawn to the meseta. As I prepared and watched videos, I really felt that this part of the Camino would speak to me, and it has. Today we had 17 km with a village or fountain. So we bought food and brought plenty of water. The area was the same as we had been walking through; grain fields, sunflowers, endless flat terrain; but for some reason, knowing I was out there for 17 km, with no village in 5 or 10 km to entice me on, I relaxed, walked and was in the moment on the Camino. My body seemed to not let me hurry to the next stop, but rather appreciate the rustle of the poplars, the sweet honey smell of the thistle, and the monochromatic colors of the meseta that suddenly become dotted with the brilliance of the fields of sunflowers. I sauntered through the meseta today.
Some people talk their way through the Camino. I like the silence. Sometimes I am a bit envious of their familiar chatter. As most of you who know me, know I am not a good conversationalist. I have so enjoyed my chats with other Pilgrims but today I tried to remove myself from outside conversation. Debby was as fast as a rabbit today, so she was ahead of me all day. I adjusted my pace to be alone with the quiet of the meseta.
After 30 km we finished our day, found our albergue, hung our laundry and finished our cerveza. I had a great visit with a woman from Australia that also was a cafe owner. Now siesta time.

I can sense you growing from your words. That is why you did this, to learn to be, just be; not running to keep up with you life and responsibilites. I will differ with you regarding your conversation skills, some of my best memories of great conversations were with you.
