Everyone was so excited last night about how this stage is flat. I knew differently.
I have been dreading putting my boots on because I have a problem with my right ankle bone. I have a bruise from a small fall, maybe. So, to be able to walk I am using some walking sandals (👡 inside joke to Debby) that I bought in St. Jean. This is problematic because of the small gravel and large stones, but I will buy new low top shoes tomorrow in Pamplona.
The young ones were with us for a bit this am. They get so excited when they see the cats. I swear that I might need to search Eva’s pack at night.

Highlights of the day. Watching Eva, strong, positive and spunky (at least in the am). The afternoon was difficult for us all.

And then….Today I seemed to have a memory or an open hot hillside walk, but was stuffing the memory down. When the long hot climb came I might have said something rhyming with truck.
At the top still kilometers from Pamplona and nearing 100 degrees in the sun….there is this little oasis under the trees where a kind, talkative man sells iced drinks and snacks. He has rocks for us to rest on. Unfortunately I was too exhausted to take pictures of the train angel.

Walking into a city feels very strange after being in villages and knowing when you enter a town your albergue is within a few blocks. As you arrive in a city, hot and tired, it becomes much more of a challenge to not stop at a bar and call a taxi.
We finally made it to the gate of the city. Then to our albergue within a block of entering the city.

Great shower
Then off for tapas and wine with Hemingway.

Off to buy my new boots then bed. I think the girls are exploring the night life.
Wow, I am so envious (Except for the heat and blistered feet). Love the villages, and eclectic people you are meeting. Eva is amazing…
Love that you’re taking us along on your magnificent journey….your descriptions actually make my feet ache for you…=)
Beautiful scenery and food! I hope you can find some better shoes today.
I did. Hopi g tomorrow my feet will be free of stones.
Your entries are wonderful! Thanks for sharing your Camino! Which albergue did you stay at? Love those private bunks.
