Day 3 – Burgette to Ilaratz

14.8 miles

Whew! It was in the low 90’s by the time that we finished today. All of us were cooked and ready for a shower. Unfortunately my albergue was 3k down the road.

I walked solo most of the day but ended the day and the dragon’s back down hill with a new friend from Poland. You can imagine that we had some interesting conversations.

My legs felt horrible all night. I even took ibuprofen. The last two days have given them a workout.

I felt sorry for my room mate because I was restless all night. The mattresses are plastic covered because of bad bugs so they aren’t very noisy.

I am a woman of age reinventing myself in my 70’s. I owned a restaurant for 36 years, was a high school CTE instructor in Culinary Arts, and I’m now looking for my next chapter in life. I am restless. I do know that hiking, travel, and sharing my love of food and wine will play a part in my new adventures.

  1. I can’t believe it’s that hot already. Glad you were able to do a good hike with what appears to be delicious food waiting for you.
